Summary

The Manufacturing Electrical/Hardware Engineer assists in planning and coordinating manufacturing processes for GMS products, and supports Operations to assure a quality product is produced utilizing Lean Manufacturing Methodologies. Works directly with multiple departments representing the manufacturing team, collaborating with Quality Assurance, R&D and Procurement. Works to improving existing and develops new product variant of the original designs and processes to enhance the customer experience, decrease operational costs, or improve quality. Leads manufacturing electrical engineering projects.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Supports the transfer of new designs from R&D to production and service 
  • Perform in depth troubleshooting of product assemblies and sub-assemblies down to the component level
  • Work with engineering team to troubleshoot complex product issues and document / train the manufacturing / engineering team as required
  • Support the manufacturing and service team to perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions as needed
  • Track and coordinate the implementation hardware design changes and tracking change order (ECO) releases and BOM updates
  • Coordinate with the engineering team product design changes based on manufacturing / service feedback
  • Generate troubleshooting procedures and/or work instructions, providing direction/ training to production personnel and technicians.
  • Provide support for test processes on the production floor and product startups
  • Work with design team to ensure Design for Manufacturing & Assembly (DFMA) and Design for Testability (DFT) is considered on part design.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Proficient in MS Office software
  • Experienced in the design and troubleshooting of embedded systems
  • Experience in power electronics, electronic & digital circuits, & production of electronic assemblies
  • Electronic hardware engineering experience in a product development or sustaining engineering environment
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline driven, multitasking, environment with ability to quickly adapt to changing situations and tasks
  • Must be detail oriented and balance multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Require minimal supervision to successfully complete tasks and assignments
  • Must possess the ability to successfully plan, prioritize and organize work activities and adhere to strict deadlines follow instructions, procedures, and policies; identify and solve problems
  • Must be conscientious about assignments and complete work in a timely, accurate and thorough manner
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Require minimal supervision to successfully complete tasks and assignments
  • Must demonstrate initiative and ownership of assignments/projects

  • Limited travel required
  • Must report to work at scheduled time and maintain satisfactory attendance with limited unscheduled absences
  • Must be able to work the standard 8AM-5PM, Monday – Friday schedule and overtime as required

Education/Experience & Training:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Electronics Engineering
  • 3 - 5 years of relevant work experience  3+ Years In depth experience in electronic theory, analogue, digital and mixed signal hardware design.
  • 2+ years of related electromechanical manufacturing or hardware design experience.
  • Understanding of engineering documentation related to bill-of-materials, schematics, printed circuit boards and mechanical drawings.
  • Competency in electronics circuit design, simulation and troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of manufacturing KPI’s and LEAN principles.
  • Experienced in the design and troubleshooting of embedded systems
