Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2  years’ experience in inspection of PCB’s preferred
  • Electronic Assembly Inspection Certificate preferred but not required as long as the individual can pass the IPC testing provided by GMS
  • Basic knowledge of IPC standards
  • Knowledge of computers, Microsoft Word, Excel

 

Note: This position uses calipers, flat table and gauges to conduct mechanical inspections, there is no CMM machine.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inspect incoming boards for solder defects per IPC-610 requirements
  • Examine any incoming product for visual damage and generates paperwork if needed
  • Inspect and generate paperwork for any Turnkey product received at GMS
  • Perform incoming, in-process and final inspections
  • Inspect any rework performed for new product as well as for RMA product
  • Input information into PCA Database as well as Epicor for inspections done as requested
  • Generate NCMR’s when defects are found
  • Initiate scrap report in the Intranet
  • Help with Internal Auditing
  • Responsibility and authority for controlling quality as delegated by Management
  • Other duties as assigned


Summary

The PCBA Inspector inspects electronic assemblies, subassemblies, parts and components for defects, including the performing of In-Process and Final Inspection.

  • Ability to learn and apply acceptance and inspection methodology of machined parts
  • Ability to learn and apply standard concepts, practices, and procedures within mechanical inspection field
  • Must understand traceability (product, material and calibration)
  • Ability to learn and apply understanding of audit techniques
  • Must be detail oriented and balance multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to learn and apply of measurement, measurement terminology and the different types of measurement scales
  • Must possess the ability to successfully plan, prioritize and organize work activities and adhere to strict deadlines, follow instructions, procedures, and policies; identify and solve problems
  • Must have basic understanding quality terms, definitions and concepts
  • Must be able to learn and apply basic calibration knowledge
  • Ability to learn and apply the difference between accuracy and precision and be able to select the appropriate measuring tools and techniques
  • Ability to learn and measure using surface plate layouts
  • Ability to learn and apply a general knowledge of ASME Y14.5M, working knowledge of GD&T, and must understand the x, y, z coordinate system
