Summary

Receives and ships product and materials according to specifications by performing the following duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Process the shipment of goods produced and the received goods and supplies to be used in or to aid in the production/storage of goods destined for sale to our customer base
  • Responsible to make arrangements for pick-up by the carrier specified on the customer’s purchase order which is conveyed to the shipping clerk by final inspection via the shipping instructions
  • Must report defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor
  • Responsible for keeping an adequate supply of shipping materials on hand at all times
  • Required to forward a requisition for shipping materials to the Department Supervisor for approval
  • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations
  • Ensure that items are shipped to meet on time delivery and according to shipping instructions
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Education and Experience

Minimum High School diploma or general education degree (GED) 

One year of manufacturing/factory related experience in shipping and receiving

Experience with UPS/FEDEX online software required

Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

The employee regularly engages in personal interaction with company personnel. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus and utilize a computer monitor under florescent lighting and/or daylight where applicable.

  • The employee will occasionally be required to conduct work in the engineering lab

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk up and down one flight of stairs and approximately 1 block from building to building
